CARTA PETICIÓN

Estimado Secretario General,

Escúchenos mientras hablamos con una sola voz sobre los derechos humanos, salud y educación. Nosotros, los abajo firmantes, somos sólo unos pocos de los aproximadamente 100 millones de personas en este mundo que viven , trabajan, tienen niños a cargo y padecen esta enfermedad olvidada, el vitíligo.

Contribuimos con la industria y la cultura mundial. Somos los ricos y los pobres. Somos la cara de la comunidad con enfermedades olvidadas.Nos encontrará en escuelas, hospitales, pantallas de televisión y cine, estadios deportivos e iglesias, mientras que muchos decidieron recluirse y aislarse voluntariamente de la sociedad.

Aunque el vitiligo a diario ha destruido las vidas de millones de personas desde su origen, principalmente en los paìses en vìas de desarrollo, no existe una cura a la vista. Sin embargo, pocas enfermedades dan lugar a tanto miedo y odio como el vitiligo, especialmente en personas de piel oscura, en los que puede ser notoriamente importante. Y porque no es contagiosa o no amenaza la vida, a menudo no recibe apoyo alguno de nuestros sistemas nacionales de salud.

Por lo tanto, apoyamos la iniciativa del 25 de Junio y respetuosamente solicitamos a las Naciones Unidas

1. Continuar los esfuerzos multilaterales en el vitiligo salud y educación de manera urgente, y

2. Designar a 25 de junio como el Día Mundial de Vitiligo.

Sr. Secretario General, por favor, escuche nuestra voz. Sabemos que usted puede alentar a los Estados miembros para que respeten nuestros derechos. Por favor, aplique políticas de apoyo para las enfermedades olvidadas, el vitiligo en particular. Esto es fundamental para los derechos humanos y la dignidad personal de millones de hombres, mujeres y niños en esta tierra.

Why Is It Important

There are a lot of people who don't want you to stand up for your rights and demand a cure. They say vitiligo is not life threatening and not contagious, and you must embrace a life of a pariah, hiding yourself from sunlight and from the society.

Vitiligo is an under-researched disease resulting in milky white skin patches on the skin. The breadth and complexity of the disease require international collaboration in therapy development. The severity of the disease calls for national healthcare support.

So, speak up for your condition and your rights. Sign the letter to tell the UN Secretary-General that you want recognition and support. It would be appreciated if you could give every member of your family or group an opportunity for signing.
